VIRGINIA FARM HOUSE

It’s a rare gift to have clients who have become dear friends. The design of this home was developed in a weekend spent with the clients, rolls of tracing paper, cardboard, and glue. The house needed to accommodate the family as well as frequent weekend (or longer) guests. The main living spaces are modestly sized but the open plan keeps the home from feeling cramped. There are lots of nooks and niches where a guest can read a book or take a nap. Beardance joinery cut the yellow pine frame, with assistance (and engineering!) by the owners. A new guest house echoes the design of the main house and is a perfect spot for an afternoon drink.
